With the Batalha Monastery providing the distinguished back-drop, the Hotel Mestre Afonso Domingues is a recently refurbished 4 Star hotel, which carefully balances modern design elements with the historical legacy of the region.
Composed of 22 bedrooms (including 2 suites and an auditorium with capacity for 80 people) the hotel also boasts the impressive restaurant "O Mestre" which celebrates traditional gastronomy melted into the palate of the finest European cuisine.
Paulo Coelho's involvement, namely in executing the lighting design for the restaurant, united the rich flavour of the dishes with a vivacious and sensory lighting scheme which profoundly enhanced the appeal of the space.
Delta Gloss Gold (black lacquered finishing and gold metal), Delta Gloss (black lacquered finishing) and Delta Ouro (shiny gold metal) served to bring about this transformation of the restaurant space. The key is in the detailing and the high quality of the finishes.
Two different shades were also used to bring about such a splendid end result:
The Princesse Preto / Ouro, which is characterised by the cylindrical shape and also by the elegance of the black fabric with shiny printings and gold interior.
Royal Preto / Ouro, also cylindrical, and unmistakable for its golden print in black fabric, finished with golden interior tones.
The lighting project for the restaurant "O Mestre" for the Hotel Mestre Afonso Domingues was completed by Paulo Coelho in February 2010.
